New to NZ Cinemas – September 15

The school holidays are upon us, which means cinemas are pumping out plenty of films this week. But this week isn’t simply for kids and their parents – there is also an adult drama, a wilderness horror and a nostalgic doco to be had.

We also give you a heads-up about some smaller releases, as well as certain classics playing in Auckland (Alien at the Stardome!).

Goodfellas | Playing Friday night Event Newmarket

Martin Scorsese’s legendary mafia masterpiece is playing as part of Event Newmarket’s Flashback Fridays.

Ponyo & My Neighbour Totoro | Playing this Saturday at Auckland Museum

Auckland Museum is playing these two Studio Ghibli classics as part of their Culture Festival 2016. Ponyo plays in the morning at 10:30am followed by My Neighbour Totoro at 1:30pm. Both films play in the auditorium and are free admission with museum entry and thanks to Madman Entertainment.

Alien | Playing Wednesday night at the Stardome

We’re so keen for this. The Auckland Stardome on One Tree Hill is showing Ridley Scott’s classic horror sci-fi Alien on their planetarium screen. There’s a 7:00pm and a 9:15pm screening that you can book tickets for on their website right here.
