Marmaduke
Marmaduke, a lovable Great Dane, leaps from comic strip fame (appearing in 600 newspapers in over 20 countries) to big screen stardom in this family comedy.
A suburban family moves to a new neighborhood in Orange County, California with their Great Dane, who has a tendency to wreak havoc in his own oblivious way. But its not all living large for the Duke, who finds that fitting in with his new four-legged friends – and a potential romantic interest – isn't always easy for a super-sized teenage dog.
Owen Wilson gives Marmaduke his voice in the film, which also features the voices of Fergie, George Lopez, Emma Stone and Kiefer Sutherland.
Starring Owen Wilson, George Lopez, Stacy Ferguson, William H. Macy, Steve Coogan, Jeremy Piven, Ron Perlman, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Judy Greer, Emma Stone, Lee Pace
Directed by Tom Dey ('Failure to Launch', 'Showtime', 'Shanghai Noon')
Written by Tim Rasmussen, Vince Di Meglio (based on the comic strip by Brad Anderson and Phil Leeming)

Chicago Sun-Times (Roger Ebert)
If you like the comic strip, now in its 56th year, maybe you'll like it, maybe not. Marmaduke's personality isn't nearly as engaging as Garfield's. Then again, if personality is what you're in the market for, maybe you shouldn't be considering a lip-synched talking animal comedy in the first place.

Marmaduke is a functional and inoffensive family movie about a talking dog.

One thing Marmaduke does have in common with the earlier Disney titles is a blessed scarcity of crass bodily-function gags that often pass as family comedy.

Wilson's amiable vocal work keeps the predictability from becoming too grating.

These cinematic feats are accomplished with meat-cleaver editing and awkward, jittery computer-generated imagery. The well-cast voices for the expressionless animals are at least good for a few smirks.

TVNZ (Darren Bevan)
Owen Wilson brings his laconic laidback tones to the pooch - and Sutherland does menacing well, but it's an unoriginal story which doesn't offer much into the mix.

With extended closing credits, Marmaduke clocks in at 88 minutes and feels longer.
