Great idea but clumsy scripting
The obvious movie to compare this to is Despicable Me. They both involve villains who turn out to be not so bad after all. With a better script, this movie could have been even funnier than Despicable Me. However, the script was just plain clumsy. We don't get to see the same depth of character development as in Despicable Me. The plot development is just sort of rammed through.
It's a pity. I was looking forward to this one. It's worth watching, it is funny. However, all the elements put together just don't work. Poor dialog and wooden characters let this one down. Despicable Me also set the bar pretty high for this film and it just can't compete.
