Produced by George Lucas (Star Wars), an action-drama about the first African-American fighter pilot squadron to fight in World War II. Stars Cuba Gooding Jr and Terrence Howard. More
In 1944, in the midst of WWII, the black pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program are waging two wars - one against enemies overseas, and the other against discrimination within the military and back home. So far the accomplished black pilots haven't been deemed good enough to enter the fighting, but as war in Europe grows more deadly, Pentagon brass has no recourse but to reconsider these under-utilised pilots. On the brink of being sent home, Col. A.J. Bullard (Howard) awards the Tuskegee men the chance to prove their mettle. Their mission (so dangerous that the RAF has refused it): provide safe escort to bombers in broad daylight.
A pet project of Lucas', Red Tails has been in development since 1988 and is Lucasfilm's first movie since 1994 that is not part of the Indiana Jones or Star Wars franchises. Hide
