Drama centring on the conflict between the straight establishment and the gay avant-garde in late 1970s Brazil. Winner of four awards – including Best Brazilian Film – at the Rio de Janeiro Film Festival 2013.
Takes place at the tail end of military dictatorship in Brazil, when a group of artists begin to challenge power and moral conventions. The Star-Spangled Floor are an anarchist theatre group with subversive cabaret shows practicing political resistance through anarchy and mockery. The group refer to themselves as the "Moulin Rouge of the outskirts, the Broadway of the poor, the Studio 54 of the slums."
