That Demon Within

Ghoulish psychodrama from Chinese auteur Dante Lam, set amongst Hong Kong tenements, funeral parlours and graveyards. Based on a real criminal case then steeped in folklore, That Demon Within turns a policeman’s Jekyll-and-Hyde battle into an exploration of the evil in everyone.

Dave Wong (Daniel Wu), a dutiful police constable, is wracked with doubt after he saves the life of notorious and ruthless killer Hon Kong (Nick Cheung). His actions come back to haunt him when Hon later leads his gang in an armed robbery that leaves dozens dead or injured.
