I went to see this much anticipated adaptation of Allen Moore's graphic novel the Watchmen last night and end in the end I walked away thinking at first that it was very choppy and and not very well done and it did not look like one of Zack Snyder's best work's. The visual effects were outstanding as were the Soundtrack . The actor's performance's were average at best. Overall this screen version of a perhaps one of the greatest graphic novels of all time was mediocre at best and I wanted to get up and walk out of the theater but stayed rather than waste the money I spent to see it.

oh so close

i was amazed when i saw the trailer at the dark knight imax and have been psyched on it ever since but the fact that my chemical romance is doing a song for it is kinda scary the title track should be smashing pumpkins The Beginning is the End is the Beginning was a perfect fit for the trailor (and the only good thing that came out of batman and robin lol)

Fascinating

Ash Nobody (?)

The bits on Mars are lame (that's where the CGI over-reaches) - and what's that rubbish big cat creature near the end? - but there are other scenes in this which blew my mind. Politics, philosophy, fantasy, fetishism, action, emotional drama, visceral horror and dark, dark humour, all in one film. Go see.

Plenty of bang for buck...

Mark Nobody (?)

Watchmen is quite a long film but you definitely get value for money. I actually felt quite drained afterwards as it's not one of those movies where you can just switch off, sit back and enjoy...you need to constantly pay attention to the dialogue to understand what's going on (particularly if, like me, you haven't read the graphic novel). Sure, it had a few slightly tedious moments, but that would be nit-picking.

Superbly cast, a top notch soundtrack (woohoo...99 Red Balloons!) and visually impressive. Certainly look forward to it's release on Blu Ray.

Watch the Watchman

Thomas Nobody (?)

Oh my gosh what was that! I can say what it was: Bloody, violent, stunning (visuals), a pleasure for your ears (Soundtrack) and mind. There wasnt a second where you could close your eyes its one peace of ongoing story telling with some really good performances of some actors. Who ever thinks that he/she loves action movies should watch Watchman.

The biggest ego trip I've seen in years

Paul Nobody (?)

If my mate was the director of this film, I'd be giving him heaps for years to come. It took itself so seriously - the single most over-blown, self-important film I've ever seen - that I couldn't take it at all seriously. And when I did that, and closed my eyes to most of the over-the-top and wholly unnecessary graphic violence... I actually enjoyed it. But practically nobody will remember it in 12 months.

Everything it could've been...

Adrian B-Grader (?)

This film is exactly that, everything it could of and needed to be. Solid story, excellent action, visually immaculate, great 'comic-style' dialogue. Brilliant from beginning to end.

A strange and beautiful must-see movie!

Joe Nobody (?)

And I mean beautiful in the broadest sense, stylisticailly, eccentrically, philosophically, violently, erotically, dramatically, and heart-wrenchingly - this film is STUNNING!!! Finally a comic book film that respects its adult audience. Have not felt this particular sensory rush since I saw 'The Matrix' in the cinemas. Go witness the beginnings of a cult classic! My official rating is 4.8 stars coz of minor quibbles.

Maybe its a boy movie...

Y Nobody (?)

The story line was weak and the acting by most was also weak. I think you were expected to have read the graphic novel (and recently) to really enjoy this film. I don't think they will get many new fans out of it. The visual effects were well done but that was about all.

Who is watching the Watchmen unfortunately I was

Rocky Nobody (?)

Watching this film I could just see the die hard fans squirming in there undies at convention screenings there dreams finally realised that now the whole world will know the genius of there much loved graphic novel.

Alas after what felt like an eternity of back-story, well posed group hero still shots and nuclear war threats I kind of felt the genius was lost on me. Now I’m new to the watchmen so I didn’t have the history of which has to come as a prerequisite before watching this film or at least enjoying it, but a group of cops who dress up aren’t superheros there just a group of cops that like dressing up. But these cops who did decide to dress up can punch through walls and take down large groups of people by them selves so maybe there is something that the convention'ists know that we don’t.

There is a real guy with powers however he’s going through some god like mid life crisis. Dr Manhattans monotonous dialogue coupled with his holier than thou attitude proved that even though you have awesome powers doesn’t make you any less of a prick. In saying this blue boy did prove that even a god cant please a woman every time.

Ok all that aside it looks great its high contrast film noir look coupled with some nicely done special effects almost redeems it but knocking on three hours of something that looks cool is not enough to stop the yawn factor. As well as this it is a newish look at the whole superhero genre but just because the film was set in the eighties didn’t mean it had to be made like a long drawn out eighties film sex scene and all.

I couldn’t help thinking half way through that ill get my fifteen dollars worth if they stop the film now and roll Wolverine.

hello?

Goldy Nobody (?)

Very sad. As a male, why would i pay money for a super hero movie to see dong in my face? I mean honestly....Could the limits in this movie be pushed any further? As a male, why would i pay money for this crap....Is this what it has come down to? A superhero film with constant filth because its an "adaptation to the novel". Who freaking cares....wow what a benchmark

See the watchmen or watch him

Dominic Nobody (?)

This film and Dark Knight are the product of a new era of superhero films. Please support it as these are the types of movies that should be watched and become box office hits. This or support spoofs and instead of having a good movie each year you'll have a bad spoof. I seriously don't know how they always became hits with very low reviews though luckily people learned with Disaster Movie. So this or Spoofs. Seriously

One star reviews sit alongside 5 star reviews... I was worried it was all hype and bullshit, but it totally rocked. I haven't read the book and it didn't matter at all, it's not hard to follow at all. Great plot, fun characters, a great night out.

Hang Out Wit Your Wang Out...

Billi Nobody (?)

Over all I liked this flick. There was an overall unexpected 'adultness' about it that caught me off guard in many instances and kept on surprising me until the 2 and a half hour mark. Lots of action and cool plotlines. Not so many actual cool powers. **Spoiler** but theres a well built blue dude who has his penis swinging in the wind just about every time you see him, and the times he doesnt he wears a G- String with a nice bulge in it, and the other characters never bat an eyelid, Hilarious. Dont take your kids....

so anatomically correct

Mindy Nobody (?)

A big ups for DC for making this for the big screen. My five stars go to Dr Manhattan and his lack of modestly - or should that go to the special fx guy who rendered him so anatomically correct.

Really enjoyable

Mark Nobody (?)

I wouldn't rank it as one of the best on either paper or film but the movie was way better than I expected.

I read the comics years ago so couldn't remember what happened until half-way through: the ending is still the weakest part of the whole story.

The sense of mystery in the paper version was largely lost because the movie spends a lot of time developing pathos and engagement with the characters. That works in Rorshach's favour as that character really has major impact.
