White Noise

2005

A ghost movie and suspense thriller starring Michael Keaton.

Until the sudden and mysterious death of his beloved wife, architect Jonathan (Keaton) considered himself a rational man, one who would not subscribe to theories about communicating with the dead. But now, a stranger has entered his life, claiming to have heard Jonathan’s wife through Electronic Voice Phenomenon ("EVP"). Fueled by his grief as much as curiosity, Jonathan soon finds himself swayed by Raymond’s claim, validated by recordings and the testimonial of another who has lost a loved one...

Starring Michael Keaton, Chandra West, Deborah Kara Unger, Ian McNeice, Sarah Strange

Directed by Geoffrey Sax (feature debut)

Written by Niall Johnson

Geoffrey Sax, a British television director making his theatrical debut, lavishes enough craft on the paranormal thriller to send more than a few chills down the spine.

The movie straitjackets Keaton into a humorless, table-pounding role.

A film worthy neither of Mr. Keaton's talents nor even a desperate horror fan's attention.

An unsatisfying supernatural thriller with an effectively unsettling build-up and a frustratingly muddled pay-off.
