Director James Cameron has bought more than 1000ha of land in the South Wairarapa and, in a statement, said he and his family were, "thrilled to be making a new home in New Zealand." The purchase is said to have been in the region of $20million.

Stephen Frears Now Making A Muhammad Ali Film
Cantankerous director Stephen Frears has begun casting for Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight, reports Shadow & Act. The film is for HBO and is not about his epic boxing bouts with George Frazier. Instead the movie details Ali's time fighting The Man as a conscientious objector to the Vietnam War, a fight that would take him all the way to the Supreme Court as he battled against jail time.
Walken, Pacino, Arkin Are 'Stand Up Guys'
The action-comedy Stand Up Guys has signed an actor dream team of Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin for its lead roles. The movie is about two "aging criminals" who have been hired to kill their friend. Before doing the dastardly task they hit the town, relive their criminal youth and face up to their life decisions.

In what can only be described as a positive move MGM have hired Gran Torino writer Nick Schenk to rewrite the script of their upcoming reboot of RoboCop.

Yes, it's true. However the debuting director in question is Akiva Goldsman, a big time Hollywood screenwriter, producer and frequent collab partner of Ron Howard's. The film is called Winter's Tale and is an adaptation of a best selling book. Vulture report that the project was perilously close to being canned and that Goldsmith hit the phones to keep it alive and cut $20mil from its $75mil budget. Now with two of Hollywood's biggest stars in the picture - Smith as a judge, Crowe as a gangster - the film is steaming ahead.
