Flight of the Conchords + Muppets = ?

The Vulture Blog reports that James Bobin, the British co-creator of comedy series Flight of the Conchords, has been landed the job of directing the new The Muppets movie.

Bobin was also offered the Kristin Wiig-penned, Judd Apatow-produced comedy Bridesmaids but opted out of that project.

The script for the new Muppet movie was written by actor Jason Segel and his Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller (who was originally slated to direct before he got delayed with Russell Brand comedy Get Him to the Gig).

The original The Muppet Show was envisioned by creator Jim Henson as an adult show that was suitable for kids. Given the childlike behaviour of Brett and Jermaine, Bobin should feel right at home.
