Could Taika Waititi's Boy, his follow-up to Eagle vs Shark, become your favourite New Zealand film of all time, in the history of the universe? We've had a sneak peak and we think it will.
It opens on March 25. In the meantime, these hilarious clips might provide some idea of what to expect.
Spoon Escape: Boy recounts the heroic tale of how his dad, Alamein (Waititi), escaped from jail with merely a spoon.
MJ Dance Moves: Boy is desperate to impress the girl of his dreams, Chardonnay, so attempts to woo her with some mean Michael Jackson dance moves. Smooth.
Got Potential: Boy's teacher (Craig Hall) says he's "got potential" but what does it mean, ow?
Rocky's Powers: Young Rocky chats with a fat homeless man under a bridge and accidentally unleashes his magic powers. Shame!
Seen ET?: Alamein and his cronies chat with the boys. Such exotic lives they lead – they've even seen ET!
Treasure: Alamein tried to remember whereabouts in the paddock he buried the treasure. It was a certain number of steps from the post. He just can't remember the number of steps. Or the post.
At the Beach: Alamein and Boy have a heart-to-heart about women before Dad leads the charge over the ridge, into battle.
