Independent Short Film Screening at the Academy in Auckland

Eight short films from Auckland’s independent film scene will be screened at the Academy Cinema in Auckland on June 28th, 29th and 30th.

Produced over the last 12 months, the shorts are the work of filmmakers and actors - including Matt Heath and Chris Stapp (Back of the Y, The Devil Dared Me To), Tom Sainsbury (Super City) and Auckland Theatre regulars Nic Sampson and Aidee Walker - using their own money and resources.

They are all produced by Fleet St, a new production company - set up by director Roko Babich - in part to help filmmakers get their work made and seen. A beautiful idea - get along and see the work for yourselves, people.

Fleet St say the work ranges "from mystical experiences to unlikely love, World War II to teenage delinquents."

Here's a clip from Heath and Stapp's animated short, The Loose Adventures of Uncle Flap:

And here's a clip from Nathaniel, written and directed by Flicks' recently-departed editor Andrew Hedley.
