Martin Freeman Feels The Sting In Brand New 'The Hobbit' Image
Sir Pete has just released a brand new image from the set of The Hobbit. We're assuming it's from part one, titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but as that has not been confirmed it could very well be from part two, titled The Hobbit: There And Back Again.
So let's take a look at it shall we...
The photo shows a very determined looking Bilbo Baggins, played by a very determined looking Martin Freeman, awkwardly holding what we believe to be his sword Sting, the Elvish blade he pilfers from a Troll hoard sometime during his unexpected journey.
And while it looks like he's concentrating very hard and exerting a lot of energy to pull his sword out of a stone, we don't actually believe that to be the case, as to the best of our knowledge Bilbo never became King of England.
It's also worth noting that Bilbo is covered in spiderwebs so this image must be from chapters 8-9 of the book which is when he *SPOILER ALERT* fights a giant spider.
We'll also mention that poor Bilbo is going to have a devil of a time getting them there spiderwebs out of his hair and off of his spiffy crimson tunic. Pretty sure there's no drycleaners in Middle Earth...
Keen eyed viewers will also make out the unmistakeable shape of some very strange mushrooms indeed sprouting out of focusly there in the background...
BONUS TRIVIA: While Sting is weilded as a sword by Bilbo, and later Frodo in The Lord Of The Rings, the weapon is actually an Elvish knife. Hobbits just be small, y'all.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arrives in cinemas later this year on December 14.
