The Great 'Kiwi Flyer' Roadtrip Across Aotearoa
Tony Simpson, director of the New Zealand family feature film Kiwi Flyer, is taking the titular trolley on a road-trip tour around Aotearoa. Starting in Christchurch on 24 September, Simpson will do a loop of the South Island in his 'Kiwi Flyer' caravan (with Kiwi Flyer trolley in tow) before heading north to Auckland. Along the way, he’ll take in 34 towns, stopping at regional cinemas that are due to screen the film.
Opening nationwide in cinemas September 24, Kiwi Flyer is a New Zealand family comedy about a young lad who sets out to win the Nelson Trolley Derby, in memory of his late father. The film stars comedian Dai Henwood, Tandi Wright (TVNZ's Nothing Trivial) and Vince Martin from Beaurepaires (who recently gave us 5 films he loved).
Simpson says, “We have had a fantastic response already and I’m keen to share this fun movie with families up and down the country.”
“This is not only an opportunity to promote Kiwi Flyer, but also the New Zealand Film Commission’s support of Kiwi made family films.”
