Dredd 3D

Opens Thursday October 4

In an attempt to make people forget that the Stallone version ever existed, Kiwi Karl Urban dons the Judge Dredd helmet with the vow that he will never take it off. If the overseas buzz is to be believed, we’re in for 90 minutes of gun-blazing, face-exploding, violence-defining sci-fi radness.

It’s essentially a day-on-the-job cop flick: Dredd evaluates a rookie (played by Olivia Thirlby) as they pay a visit to a massive 200-level slum - which they then have to fight their way out of, as it coincidentally houses a gang dealing in a reality-altering drug called SLO-MO. Yes, it sounds a lot like a 3D sci-fi version of The Raid, but honestly, how could that ever be a bad thing? Besides, it's actually just a coincidence, as confirmed by The Raid's director. Films don't get made overnight, y'know!
