This year’s Opening Night selection, the hit comedy Welcome to the South has made over 30 million euros at the Italian box office thanks to its tale of north-south rivalry.

The film is a remake of the French hit Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis (Welcome to the Sticks) and won Best Screenplay at the 2011 Nastri d’Argento Awards.
