(An) eerily vast and awe-inspiring epic, a cathedral of interplanetary strangeness...
Full reviewBlade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve directs this award-winning adaption of Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel, led by Timothée Chalamet alongside an all-star cast including Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling and Jason Momoa.
Paul Atreides (Chalamet) and his family are given control of the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of the most coveted commodity in the galaxy: a spice called melange. But when the Atreides family are eventually betrayed, Paul must lead a rebellion to retake control of the planet.
LessVilleneuve directs the hell out of this, creating moments of spellbinding spectacle with an unshakable belief in its own world-building. An achievement beyond just being an impressive adaptation.

Full reviewSome vexing, inscrutable mystery and preening opacity can be fun. But there ought to at least be a big, central Why animating a film.
Full reviewDenis Villeneuve’s film is of such literal and emotional largeness that it overwhelms the senses...
Full reviewNot every shot registers as rapturous. Sometimes we're just looking at sand. And Chalamet remains more haircut than actor. Yet the film also has a credibly hard edge.
Full reviewThis is a technically brilliant, visually amazing movie with a top-notch cast and deep sci-fi concepts. A shame, then, that it feels like a drag in its (second half)...
