ok, if you are going to make a sci-fi horror movie you'd think you'd want to do something new on Ridley Scott's ground breaking and super scary "Alien" of 1979. But maybe the Millennials among us have not seen Alien so to them its all new. This movie brought nothing new to the genre. It re-hashed the some themes and ideas of many past sci fi movies. I went to it because I like the acting on Jake Gyllenhaal, but his character was weak like this film.

The Press Reviews

  • "Life's" a thrill when it's smart, but it's even more exciting when the characters are dumb - which is ultimately a paradox the film wears proudly, to the possible extinction of the human race. Full Review

  • The picture struggles to find a satisfying rhythm as the members of this multinational, co-ed team get slooshed up by Calvin or suffer related lethal mishaps. Full Review

  • It’s a serviceable, watchable, determinedly unoriginal film... Full Review

  • Part Alien, part Gravity, just not as good as either of them. But Life whips along at a decent pace and deploys enough engaging action sequences to make it work. Full Review

  • How this by-the-numbers sci-fi horror managed to blast free of the DVD bin and engage A-list stars like Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds is hard to figure out. Full Review
