Like the original, the new version is a snarky situational farce that evolves into a cheese-dog fable of home and hearth, and the role reversal lets it feel halfway fresh.
Full reviewAnna Faris is a mistreated employee who takes revenge on her boss (Eugenio Derbez, How to Be a Latin Lover) in this remake of the 1987 romantic comedy.
Leonardo (Derbez), a selfish, rich playboy from Mexico’s richest family unjustly fires Kate (Faris) and refuses to pay her. Shortly after, Leonardo falls overboard when partying too hard and wakes up on the Oregon coast with amnesia. To get payback, Kate shows up at the hospital and convinces him that they're married.

Full reviewOverboard ekes out laughs but fails to add the romance to the comedy. We'd leave this one in the water.
Full reviewSuffice it to say, you'd be safer to leave this one floating without a life jacket and just renting the '87 one again.
Full reviewOverboard (2018) is available to stream in New Zealand now on Google Play and Apple TV and Neon Rentals.
