Smurfs: The Lost Village 3D
Separating itself from the 2011 and 2013 films, this fully-animated Smurfs adventure sees the little blue fellows on the search for the Forbidden Forest. Features the voice of Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) as Papa Smurf, Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) as Clumsy, Danny Pudi (Community) as Brainy, Demi Lovato (Frozen) as Smurfette, and Rainn Wilson (The Office) as the evil Gargamel.
A mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty (Joe Manganiello) on a race through the Forbidden Forest filled with magical creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does.

Reviews & comments

Variety
pressIt's a pure digital fantasy, with elegant and tactile animation, so it's more true to the Smurf spirit, and should perform solidly.

Total Film
pressTrolls' Poppy would gag on the sickly sweetness here, against which Gargamel's evil puns can't compete. "Prepare for Gar-mageddon!" Or worse: more Smurfs films.

The Times
pressThose little blue men in poky hats and long white underwear are back in a garish, irritating shoutfest.

Sydney Morning Herald
pressHappily, this is still a children's film first and foremost, animated in a style that's frankly cartoony rather than "exquisite", in the manner of modern Disney.

Stuff
pressWelcome back Smurfs. I still don't know how you get away with it. But I'm glad you do.

Hollywood Reporter
pressA mediocre effort that nonetheless succeeds in its main goal of keeping its blue characters alive for future merchandising purposes.

Empire Magazine
pressEven if this wasn't the third Smurfs movie from Sony in seven years, it would feel uninspired, with a first-base plot and nondescript animation.
