The Losers

Revenge-actioner and graphic novel adaptation about members of a CIA 'black' (meaning 'unacknowledged') ops team – Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar – who, after being betrayed and left for dead, root out those who targeted them for assassination. It's a decent movie if you find Jeffrey Dean Morgan attractive

LOSERS!!!

I enjoyed the graphic original and like the actors (The bad guys made me anticipate their painful demise) but this movie may as well have been the "A-Team". The makers clearly opted for the opportunity to make a sequel rather than making a good Losers movie.

Why is this in cinemas?

With a bunch of unoriginal and self-consciously cool character names like Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar, the script sounds like it was generated by a computer program. There's no clue this is meant to be a parody, which is the only thing that could save it. I'm gonna dodge this one.

Painfully bad

This is easily the worst film I've seen in a long time. I wasn't expecting Oscars material, but I did think it might at least be funny or entertaining. It was neither. The main problem is the awful story line - gaping plot holes, jumps in logic, corny lines galore. The actors are ok (with what they've been given) and there are some cool action scenes, but...

The Losers is the sort of pyro-heavy exercise parodied in "Tropic Thunder," and no amount of production polish can hide the hollowness beneath its junk-food high.

If you don't take the Losers too seriously, it's fairly good fun

About the only thing that distinguishes this iteration from those of yore is that the violence is more explicit, the edits are faster, and no one has a stogie stuck in his kisser.

The movie gets the job done, and the actors show a lot of confidence in occupying that tricky middle ground between controlled satire and comic overkill. It's fun.

A comic book adaptation completely packed with a vast array of weaponry and acted out by a great cast – I had high hopes for this.

There are enough clever bits, in that exploding-bodies kind of way, to inject some fun into the party. White and director of photography Scott Kevan, who collaborated on "Stomp the Yard," have some seriously inventive visuals, which at times are smash-cut fabulous.

The film never is boring, but it's never engaging, either, because its heroes hit every target in sight, while the villains, despite holstering much greater weaponry, never hit anybody. So forget about suspense.
