The Smurfs 2 3D

(2013)

In this live-action/animated family sequel, the Smurfs return to the human world in order to save Smurfette (voiced by Katy Perry) from the grasp of the dastardly Gargamel (Hank Azaria). ... More

Gargarmel has created his own Smurf-like critters - the rascaly Naughties - but lacks Smurf-essence to turn them true blue. So he kidnaps Smurfette, and brings her to Paris where he enjoys adoration as a great sorcerer. The dastardly wizard plans on using Smurfette's Smurfness and the Eiffel Tower (as an antenna) to finally return home. It's up to Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Grouchy and Vanity to get help from Patrick (Neil Patrick Harris) and Grace (Jayma Mays) and save the Smurfing day.Hide

Good movie ,love it in 3D.Great Paris landmarks.Katy Perry song is a great fun. Some sensitive kids might find some scenes (evil wizard Gargamel) too scary. I went with 6 kids and some parts they were bored .The story line is close to original movie and I would say can be done more editing to it to make it shorter . I'm not sure what target age group for this move is. In my opinion that for younger kids some stuff was unclear messages and older kids would say it boring.I was happy when it was... More over and have great song at the end.Hide

  • The little ones will respond to the cuddly blue rural dwellers. Accompanying adults will be screaming blue bloody murder. Full Review

  • A painless holidaykiller, if not terribly worthwhile. Full Review

  • Beyond a few chuckle-worthy one-liners and some amusing visual comedy, there's not much to engage adults, although the wee ones should be distracted enough. Full Review

  • The problem with Smurfs 2 isn't the message, it's the way the film repeats it so baldly and emphatically that even the youngest kids can get it. Full Review

  • There's a modicum of fun to be found in the blue-hued special effects, knockabout humour and decent voice cast. Full Review
