This could have been a scolding expose of the excesses of Wall Street. Instead we are invited to enjoy the ride and not think too hard about the consequences. What's the point? I'm sure this film cost a crazy amount of money to make, why recreate something only to say nothing about the causes or the effects?

Loved it. Well done - Leonardo.

A dark, thrilling character study with a side of crude, sexually-charged comedy. DiCaprio is fantastic and this is classic Scorsese.

A fast paced, exceptional film that had you gripped from beginning to end. Wolf of Wall street takes the viewer on a journey from the beginning of a career to getting addicted to the high life to total demise and rebuilding yourself from the bottom up. DiCaprio is fantastic throughout the whole film keeping you drawn to him with his suave and encapsulating personality. My only complaint is the length of the film, personally I feel some scenes could have been shortened or edited out completely... More without effecting the main story what so ever. I found myself wanting to skip scenes to get to the next part. However overall I would highly recommend it.Hide

Entertainment ++ The movie stayed with me for days and weeks later but be prepared for plenty of drugs and graphic sex. We weren't!!

This is a powerful movie.Without the fire, passion and charisma that the main actor.Leonardo DiCaprio presents, this would be a much lesser movie. We are swept along on a trail of greed, drugs, parties and corruption. It shows the mindset of some for making money in the stock market.
Joanna Lumley makes a cameo appearance and shows us her top acting skills.
It is very well done and captivates for the three hours running time.

The best film out in a while... non-stop entertainment. Thankfully, no judgement is cast on Belfort's actions. We just watch an honest portrayal of the life and the times. Unexpectedly hilarious also. Three hours from the best filmmaker on the planet.

Could have easily shortened by at least 45 minutes, rather hollow, predictable and boring plus giving the message that getting high on drugs is the best thing in the world beats all of reality.

Loved this movie but cutting out 45 minutes would have been really helpful and not affected the storyline. And could have done without so much full on sex / nudity scenes and the most ever "F bombs' BUT still loved it.
The acting by Leonardo is truly outstanding and the same for Jonah Hill.
Its a wild and fast paced epic story

Should have presented a salient but the Scorsese treatment was more about excess in production than in reality.
Some scenes defy possibility and credulity turning the thing into a 3 hour fantasy and detract from the real issue about the impact of dishonesty and integrity. Oh well, perhaps the producer suffers from these traits just a little too much me thinks.

The 3hr running time had me worried, but time flew by. This film is well worth seeing. Funny and frantic. Jonah Hill's teeth, DiCaprio's driving. Brilliant. Film of the year, so far.

The new year started with a laugh-out-loud, belly ache comedy turn from a great new double acts

In Martin Scorsese's THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill turn out to be the funniest double act and most fun surprise I've had at the movies since Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg teamed up for THE OTHER GUYS.

Seriously (or rather not!), DiCaprio and Hill had me in fits. It's an OTT tale of excess that riffs on movies from CITIZEN KANE and CALIGULA, to SALO and ALFIE. The lead... More characters are sexist, drink and drug addicted "Greed is Good" Wall Street pigs and Scorses's movie proves that nothing exceeds like excess.

It's a brilliant Bacchanalia that has Marty directing on top form, a great script from Terence Winter and a superb cast. Three hours flew by and the giggles kept coming.

Is it Scorsese’s best? No way. RAGING BULL and GOODFELLAS still take the top spot for me. But WOLF is close behind, sitting comfortably stoned besides THE KING OF COMEDY and CASINO.

Who'd have thought watching Wall Street brokers could be so much fun? ;)Hide

If you have seen any of these guys prior collaborations, then you should be going in eyes wide open knowing only to well what you are going to see.... This being said, even though Jonah Hill was in the cast I didn't expect to laugh quite as much as I did!! Thoroughly enjoyable movie, I didn't even notice until the credits rolled that the film was 3 hours, I had a blast, Honourable mention for Matthew McConaughey too his little support role was a gem. Maybe Leo can win his long overdue oscar for... More this one?!!Hide

Martin Scorsese & Leonardo DiCaprio's fifth collaboration, The Wolf of Wall Street is finally here. And I'm happy to say that Scorsese's epic crime saga of debauchery is the best film of the year. The Wolf of Wall Street is a crazy hybrid of GoodFellas and Casino, packed with drugs and gratuitous sex. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jordan Belfort, an ambitious young man with big dreams of becoming a wealthy stockbroker. Making billions of dollars by selling stocks to working middle-class people,... More Belfort lived the high-life with his wingman Donnie Azoff, played by Jonah Hill. Leonardo DiCaprio's performance will blow your mind. Of all the despicable anti-heroes in Martin Scorsese's films, Jordan Belfort might just be the worst. It's not until I saw The Wolf of Wall Street that I believed Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro are equally great paring with Martin Scorsese. Jonah Hill knocks it out of the park and completely deserves a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Academy Awards. Margot Robbie as Belfort's wife, Naomi Lapaglia who I was expecting to be the weak link, is excellent. Also featuring many other great performances from Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin, Kyle Chandler and Rob Reiner. Sopranos writer, Terence Winter gives the best screenplay of the year. I don't know if the story was exaggerated, but It's amazing to think that something so crazy like this actually happened. What's also shocking is how this movie got away with a R rating and somehow avoided NC-17. The Wolf of Wall Street is 179 minutes, Scorsese's longest film to date. I admit the movie could have been shorter, but it's endlessly fascinating and extremely entertaining. Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street is a cinematic landmark.Hide

If I'd had my own transport I would have been out of there after an hour. I suppose it was the male equivalent of a chick-flick and maybe guys love it, but believe me girls, I would let them go to this one alone.

'Wolf of Wall Street'
With the drug use of 'Blow', self medicating of 'Flight' and the setting of 'The Firm' this biographical flick will both excite and repel most people. It takes the viewer from the low points of humanity to the highs of the social ladder with variying degrading depravity throughout. Quite a long film but with Martin Scorsesse what do you expect. Sending the message that with focused attention, many things are possible.
Genre : Biography, book adaptation, drama
4/5 :... More Fantastic screenplay along with direction and good acting. Great watch and I found it thrilling and motivating.Hide
