This could have been a scolding expose of the excesses of Wall Street. Instead we are invited to enjoy the ride and not think too hard about the consequences. What's the point? I'm sure this film cost a crazy amount of money to make, why recreate something only to say nothing about the causes or the effects?

This is a powerful movie.Without the fire, passion and charisma that the main actor.Leonardo DiCaprio presents, this would be a much lesser movie. We are swept along on a trail of greed, drugs, parties and corruption. It shows the mindset of some for making money in the stock market.
Joanna Lumley makes a cameo appearance and shows us her top acting skills.
It is very well done and captivates for the three hours running time.

Loved this movie but cutting out 45 minutes would have been really helpful and not affected the storyline. And could have done without so much full on sex / nudity scenes and the most ever "F bombs' BUT still loved it.
The acting by Leonardo is truly outstanding and the same for Jonah Hill.
Its a wild and fast paced epic story

Should have presented a salient but the Scorsese treatment was more about excess in production than in reality.
Some scenes defy possibility and credulity turning the thing into a 3 hour fantasy and detract from the real issue about the impact of dishonesty and integrity. Oh well, perhaps the producer suffers from these traits just a little too much me thinks.

In Martin Scorsese's THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill turn out to be the funniest double act and most fun surprise I've had at the movies since Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg teamed up for THE OTHER GUYS.
Seriously (or rather not!), DiCaprio and Hill had me in fits. It's an OTT tale of excess that riffs on movies from CITIZEN KANE and CALIGULA, to SALO and ALFIE. The lead... More characters are sexist, drink and drug addicted "Greed is Good" Wall Street pigs and Scorses's movie proves that nothing exceeds like excess.
It's a brilliant Bacchanalia that has Marty directing on top form, a great script from Terence Winter and a superb cast. Three hours flew by and the giggles kept coming.
Is it Scorsese’s best? No way. RAGING BULL and GOODFELLAS still take the top spot for me. But WOLF is close behind, sitting comfortably stoned besides THE KING OF COMEDY and CASINO.
Who'd have thought watching Wall Street brokers could be so much fun? ;)Hide

If I'd had my own transport I would have been out of there after an hour. I suppose it was the male equivalent of a chick-flick and maybe guys love it, but believe me girls, I would let them go to this one alone.

With the drug use of 'Blow', self medicating of 'Flight' and the setting of 'The Firm' this biographical flick will both excite and repel most people. It takes the viewer from the low points of humanity to the highs of the social ladder with variying degrading depravity throughout. Quite a long film but with Martin Scorsesse what do you expect. Sending the message that with focused attention, many things are possible.
Genre : Biography, book adaptation, drama
4/5 :... More Fantastic screenplay along with direction and good acting. Great watch and I found it thrilling and motivating.Hide
