Following on from Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, Disney+ gets down and dirty with this new series that digs into the seedy underbelly of the Galaxy like a lightsaber through a tauntaun’s…underbelly, which probably isn’t so seedy, come to think of it.

What is Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld about?
We’re getting two four episode stories this time around, for a total of eight episodes. For the first, we’re catching up Zabrak assassin Asajj Ventress to find out what happened after she died (spoiler: she got better, as viewers of Star Wars: The Bad Batch already know). In the second, we get an origin story for Lee Van Cleef-inspired Duros bounty hunter Cad Bane, following his exploits as a young street kid before a very Sergio Leone-esque tale of the grim killer’s later life. It’s all very western-influenced, which suits the grittier milieu in which this series plays out.
The cast of Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld
Nika Futterman and Corey Burton are back as Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane, respectively. Other voice actors in the mix include Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez.

Why we’re excited about Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld
For a certain type of viewer, the smugglers and mercenaries and bounty hunters part of Star Wars is like crack, and we are that type of viewer. If you’re not across The Clone Wars animated series and other EU ephemera, don’t fret—you don’t need to know all the minutiae of Star Wars to get a kick out of this one.
