    This an "MUST WATCH" movie.

I randomly came across this movie on netflicks and clicked it on curiosity. Little would I know that this random "click" would leave me on a emotional roller-coaster that dried my eyes and wanting more!

After the movie, I was left with a quest to find out more about the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, evoking my researching days...

What an EPIC movie this was...

One of the most engrossing and moving films I've seen in recent years - the detail of life and behaviour in China as it changes for one generation to the next is fascinating - and the characters are completely authentic in how they behave and interact - a wonderful film that takes you away into "another world" for 2 hours - you'll emerge completely moved - put this on your "must see" list.

What more could you ask for from a film? I don't know how someone came to the conclusion that the film was propaganda material, but in my opinion it was a very well made film, with very convincing acting. Its sad, moving and yet enlightening at the same time.

Oh and here's a tip- bring a box of tissues with you!

I am tangshan people,my mom just had me in her body about a month when the hearthquake happened. That earthquake left too bad influence in the heart of my people. During my time in my hometown, there used to be some small earthquake every few years. The story in the story may have happened, I heard another true story a man and a woman who both had family, they dated at midnight outside after work, then earthquake happened, when they realized what happened, each ran back home and found all of their family members died, the man and the woman never met again in their life, they thought it was a punishment from heaven for their betray to their own family. There are too many families broke because of that earthquake in those very poor time, not like nowadays morden life... I grew up with my hometown...I am proud of it and my people...

it's a government-friendly unrealistic recreation of the earthquake; and it's not about the earthquake, it's just a family drama which use the earthquake as a sales pitch.

‎'After Shock' is an excellent film. Deeply moving, sad, tragic and exhausting. Definitely a film to watch, but you should be prepared for an emotional journey.

The Earthquake sequence is very intense, it's very realistic. Extremely well done.
