Wild Child, Movie

Wild Child 2008

Reviews
Emma Roberts, best known as last years Nancy Drew (and as Julia Robert's niece), goes to the opposite end of the character spectrum in Wild Child. Here she is Poppy, a spoiled, selfish princess who pushes daddy dearest too far and finds herself shipped off to a strict boarding school in merry old England to straighten her out. Natasha Richardson plays the disciplinary head mistress responsible for making sure the transition from brat to lady takes place. That won't be an easy task to accomplish given Poppy's rebellious stance towards authority figures, especially once she makes some new friends to egg her on. Who will win the battle of wills?

But I think she should keep her natural hair color... don't make it blonde! and she starts to smoke.. pls don't turn into a bad gal Emma!!

Press Reviews

Daily Telegraph [UK]

A tweenie comedy with an uplifting American-style sports movie awkwardly bolted on, it's a mess - far inferior to the recent Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Full review.

Empire Magazine

Clumsy direction means most jokes fall flatter than the paper-thin plot. Full review.

Guardian [UK]

All amiable enough, but still a bit tame compared to, say, Clueless, or Lindsay Lohan's Freaky Friday remake. Full review.

Times [UK]

It’s Mean Girls meets Malory Towers and as such it’s strictly for a tween girl audience. Full review.

Total Film

Shame on Iggy Pop for letting them (ab)use his anarchy-anthem ‘Real Wild Child’ in a girls’-own flick that is so paltry it makes the recent St Trinians addition look like Picnic At Hanging Rock. Full review.

Urban Cinefile [Australia]

The film has an energy and honesty about it: it's lively, funny and smart and the characters are appealing. Full review.
