How to watch this year’s Academy Awards in Aotearoa

Find out how you can watch this year’s Oscars live in New Zealand.

Kiwis subscribed to Disney+ will be able to watch the 96th Academy Awards live on the streaming platform Monday 11 March (NZ time). Red carpet coverage begins in the morning at 11:30am, followed by the 96th Annual Academy Awards ceremony from midday.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting this year for the fourth time. Can’t remember who got nominated for what? We’ve got the full list of nominees right here.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer leads the race with 13 nominations including all the big categories except Best Actress (don’t act surprised). Poor Things follows closely with 11 nominations, as does Killers of the Flower Moon with 10.

If you’re already caught up with this year’s biggest nominees, perhaps you’re curious about the lesser-known films in the Oscars race. Recent releases include American Fiction coming to Prime Video 27 February, The Zone of Interest just hit cinemas nationwide, and The Eternal Memory (nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film) is now available on DocPlay.

Some select cinemas are even showcasing this year’s nominees for Best Live-Action Short and Best Animated Short.
