New Zealand trailer and release date for Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
If you hate your job, you can always take comfort in the very slight possibility that a zombie apocalypse might render all your workaday woes irrelevant. It worked for Shaun of the Dead, and now a new Japanese series is putting a kind of live action anime spin on the concept. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead hits Netflix on August 3.
Based on the hugely popular manga series of the same name written by Haro Aso and drawn by Kotaro Takata, and already adapted into an anime series earlier this year, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead posits that being turned into a zombie isn’t that big a stretch for your average cog in the corporate machine (and hey—we can all relate).
Or, as the official synopsis tells us:
Surviving a zombie apocalypse beats a dead-end job any day! After spending years toiling away for a soul-crushing company, Akira’s life has lost its lustre. But when a zombie apocalypse ravages his town, it gives him the push he needs to live for himself. Now Akira’s on a mission to complete all 100 items on his bucket list before he…well, kicks the bucket.
24-year-old Akira Tendo watches a zombie movie in a trash-filled apartment with lifeless, envious eyes. His spirit is broken after spending three hard years at an exploitative corporation in Japan. He can’t even muster the courage to confess his feelings to his beautiful co-worker Ohtori. Then one morning, he stumbles upon his landlord eating lunch—which happens to be another tenant! The whole city’s swarming with zombies, and even though he’s running for his life, Akira has never felt more alive!
Starring Eiji Akaso as Akira, Zom 100 kind of vibes like a Japanese riff on Office Space, with added undead. So if you’ve ever felt like you’d rather get eaten alive than endure one more day of work, pop this one on your Netflix queue ASAP.
