New Zealand trailer and release date for Good Omens season 2

You can’t keep a good omen down! Or something like that. Anyway, we like puns, and we like Good Omens. And thus we are delighted to tell you that season two of supernatural comedy Good Omens is hitting Prime Video on July 28.

Based on the quite brilliant 1990 novel of the same name co-authored by Sandman maestro Neil Gaiman and Discworld legend Terry Pratchett, the first season of Good Omens told the tale of the biblical apocalypse, only funny. Funny how? Well, ineffable plans for the end of the world became quite effable when louche demon Crowley (David Tennant and fussy, fastidious angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) decided to try and avert doomsday, having become quite fond of the world and all the things in it.

The second season spills the banks of the source material, having pretty much run out of book. Judging from the trailer, it seems that this time out Aziraphale and Crowley are tasked with babysitting the archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) after he’s fled Heaven. And they’re not too happy about it. Check it out.

Neil Gaiman co-writes all six episodes with John Finnamore, while Douglas Mackinnon is on directing duties. Returning cast members include Derek Jacobi, Niamh Walsh, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, Doon Mackichan, and Gloria Obianyo, while fresh faces this season include Quelin Sepulveda as the angel Muriel, Liz Carr, Siân Phillips, Tim Downie, Pete Firman, Andi Osho, and Alex Norton.

Interestingly, David Tennant’s son and father-in-law, Ty Tennant and Peter Davison, are also in. Peter Davison, of course, was the fifth Doctor Who, and reportedly Tennant’s favourite Doctor growing up (of course, he would say that).

Good Omens spent so long in development over the years that it’s a miracle we ever got one season, let alone two. That means not even the end of the world could stop us from tuning into this one.
