Review: Anomalisa

Psychology in Art

Kaufman's genius is in his ability to bend the rules of cinema to create a beautiful representation of a psyche. In Anomalisa you may expect a touching romance for the older generation with a twist (stop-motion animation). What's actually there is a unique and tremendously emotional story executed in the best possible way imaginable. Through the 3 person cast, the lack of a production company looming over and what can be achieved when you control every single frame, Kaufman and Duke Johnson and his team have made a film so harshly relatable and unflinching in their depiction of a psychological state.
