Beverly Hills Cop II
Eddie Murphy is back as Detroit detective Axel Foley, called back to Beverly Hills after the attempted murder of Captain Andrew Bogomil, in this sequel to the revered 1984 crime comedy. Linked to a string of smash-n-grab robberies, the investigation leads to much bigger fish—a weapons kingpin and an international arms trafficking ring.

Reviews & comments

The New York Times
pressThe new film has at least some of its predecessor's appeal. But it can't match the first film's novelty, or recapture the excitement of watching a great comic character like Axel Foley as he first came to life.

Roger Ebert
pressThe sequel makes no particular effort to be funny, and actually seems to take its ridiculous crime plot seriously - as if we cared.
