Casa de mi Padre
Spanish-language comedy set in Mexico starring Will Ferrell and Gael García Bernal, created by Ferrell and his SNL and FunnyOrDie collaborators - writer Andrew Steele and director Will Piedmont.
Armando (Ferrell) has spent his life working his dad's ranch, but now the enterprise faces financial strife. Hope arrives in the return of his succesful brother Raul (Diego Luna) and fiancee Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez). But trouble multiplies when Armando falls for Sonia and Raul's business dealings put the brothers at war with Mexico's most dangerous drug lord (Bernal).
Inspired by Mexican telenovelas (soap opera-style TV series popular in Spanish language countries, famous for their melodrama), Ferrell says: "They are so over the top and so dramatic they lend themselves to satire... We used them as a kind of springboard for something hopefully more imaginative, with an affectionate nod towards the format".
