Hilarious

Laugh out loud funny and a couple of good jump scares. The jokes are hilariously gross and the cast are fantastic. The directing, camera, sound and art direction are great. And the music and the costumes and everything else.

This teeny-weeny ghosts and ghouls story uses all the tricks of the filmmaker's trade to make this heart-warming and very entertaining film look and feel great. It's helped by a tight simple premise, great performances and a cracking script.

Like writer-director Weal’s impressive 2016 debut Chronesthesia, Dead is something of a genre mash-up. But whereas that visual love letter to Wellington wore its mix of comedy and romance lightly, Dead offers something far brasher – with mixed results.
