Disturbia

A retelling of Hitchcock’s 'Rear Window' for YouTubers, iPoders & cellphoners with a great cast in rising star Shia LaBeouf ('Bobby'), the imposing David Morse ('12 Monkeys', 'The Green Mile') and Carrie Ann-Moss ('Matrix', 'The Chumscrubber').

Kale (LaBeouf) is under house arrest, having punched his Spanish teacher for bringing up his father – recently deceased. Not allowed outside 30 metres from his house, Kale takes up spying out his bedroom window. Namely, on the new neighbourhood hottie Ashley (Roemer). When she catches him, she thinks its ‘hot’, and joins him in the stakeouts. Things turn deadly serious though, when they see dodgy goings on and suspect a neighbour (Morse) of murder.

For what it is, a teenage suspense, it is quite good - but lets not go overboard... taken on its own, it's an average film. I think.

Absolutely BRILLIANT!

I've seen it twice, and yet I could see it again. Still catches attention every single time. A fantastic thriller, and has got me into wanting to see more like it. Next stop, THE REAPING!

Squirmingly fun suspenser that brings Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window" into the era of vidcams and cell phones, serving up hearty, youth-skewing portions of PG-13 violence and bikini-bait along the way...

Shia LaBeouf, a gifted young actor still in search of that breakthrough role, is a winning combo of smart and smartass as Kale, a suburban teen under house arrest for having clocked his Spanish teacher...

There's plenty to ensure fresh jolts for viewers who know Hitch's tricks inside out, to say nothing of young moviegoers who don't know Grace Kelly from Thelma Ritter...
