Poster for Escape from Alcatraz

Clint Eastwood and the director of Dirty Harry reunite for this prison escape classic based on the true story of three inmates who broke free from Alcatraz. More

Only three men were able to escape from the infamous maximum security prison at Alcatraz. In 29 years, the seemingly impenetrable federal penitentiary, which housed Al Capone and "Birdman" Robert Stroud, was only broken once - by three men never heard of again. Prior to the events depicted in the film, there were 13 other failed attempts at escape which saw those prisoners either captured, shot dead, or drown at sea.
