In an Academy Award-winning performance, Barbra Streisand plays comedienne Fanny Brice in this biopic directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker William Wyler and based on Isobel Lennart's musical play.

The story follows Brice from her early days in the Jewish slums of the Lower East Side, to the height of her career with the Ziegfeld Follies, including her marriage to and eventual divorce from her second husband, Nick Arnstein (Omar Sharif).
