How To Make Love Like An Englishman

Romantic comedy pairing Pierce Brosnan, a cynical Cambridge professor, with both his undergraduate student Kate (Jessica Alba) and Kate's spiky sister (Salma Hayek).

By day, Richard (Brosnan) is a well-respected English professor at renowned Trinity College. By night, he indulges his own romantic fantasies with a steady stream of beautiful undergraduates. Tired of the game and looking for something more meaningful, he's thrilled when Kate - his tanned, athletic, 25-year-old American girlfriend - tells him that she is pregnant. There is only one problem. Richard's in love with Kate's sister, Olivia.

The Hollywood romantic comedy hits an astonishing new low with this disastrous pairing for Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek.

Brosnan's recent career is not a thing of beauty. Yet again he has plumped for a mildly embarrassing, past-its-sell-by-date part.

A 99-minute film that seems to last for three hours ... one of the worst films to sport the label "romantic comedy."

One generation's silver fox is another's creepy old sex pest, and Pierce Brosnan doesn't have the comic chops, or even the facial expressions, to bridge the gap here.

A string of hackneyed situations and faux "edgy" humor you wouldn't find on even the worst episode of "Frasier."

We all like Brosnan and one is mortified to be ageist, but for this to have been even slightly romantic, funny or bearable the male lead -- and everyone else -- wanted to be much younger.
