Ice Age 2: The Meltdown

Fox's foray into animation set itself apart with the first Ice Age. With its baron setting, silent passages, and edgier animation style - it was, like, the alt-cartoon. Well those nutty critters Manny, Sid and Die, return in a new pint sized mission to save the world from imminent climate change. Oh, how they all laugh at first, the sweet warm air, a paradise of swimming pools and geysers. Yet, the trio soon discover the fun is only a distraction from a disaster soon to strike. The melting ice is set to flood their village, and the inhabitants must be saved!

Entertaining but it lacks the heart of its predecessor. Kids will love it for the string of silly gags and musical numbers, but the adults taking them won't find it so engaging because of its broken storyline. Its also unfortunate that the quality of animation has taken a step down- I had expected the newer film to have better animation. But that aside, if...

Fantastic - better than the first film by far. Much more in it for adults and great topical story line - I'll see it again.

we 3 mature adults rocked up to see this as we needed a laugh and again this movie was fantastic. What a hoot, Sloth has his issues but he could graduate to a psycologist later on, that squirrel really is obsessed with his "nut" and manie the mammoth is such a dude- I won't say anymore cause it'll ruin it for your experience. Great story for the kids in...

The movie is nice to look at, the colors and details are elegant, the animals engaging, the action fast-moving, but I don't think older viewers will like it as much as the kids.

The sweet, furry animals are witty and often funny, and while the physical comedy is simple, the main characters ultimately aren't.

The usual rider about "the kids will love it" applies for its sketch-by-sketch humour.

Story-wise, this can't hold a candle to its predecessor, but it's a decent enough sequel ? one which will doubtless keep younger viewers enthralled.
