Meet Dave
Alright, its an Eddie Murphy movie. Yeah yeah, Norbit was an abomination, Daddy Day Care was drivel, its easy to name all the unmitigated crap that Murphy has starred in as of late and one might expect this to be no better… except for this: Eddie Murphy was once the funniest man alive. If you’ve seen his Delirious stand up show (rumoured to be the most stolen title from video rental stores ever) you’ll know what we’re talking about. The point is, if Eddie Murphy hits top form again one day, it will be glorious.

Reviews & comments

New Zealand Herald
pressA surprisingly watchable family flick from Eddie Murphy, refreshingly free of the fatsuit... Yes, the storyline is predictable and not all the gags feel fresh, but there is no doubt that Murphy and his Norbit director Brian Robbins have taken a clever idea and turned it into a funny piece of family entertainment.

Christchurch Press
pressThe direction is flat, the performances shallow, the music constantly parps away and everything is palled with a distinct lack of ambition.
