Scream (2022)
The directors of Ready or Not helm this new entry in Wes Craven's satirical slasher series. Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past.
Neve Campbell returns as Sidney, as do Courteney Cox and David Arquette as Gale and Dewey.

Wes Craven would be proud of how this biting commentary on contemporary film culture juggles self-awareness of being a "requel" with genuinely disturbing knifeplay.

In addition to being the best of the sequels... the new Scream is very much a movie for this moment...

Hollywood Reporter
Seriously over-indulges in self-referential cleverness, to the point of undermining the actual scare factor.

Expertly blends reverence for the source material while creating something that feels almost completely new.

For the most part, this is a ‘re-quel’ as fast, funny and ferocious as a Scream movie should be.

Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillet clearly understand the need to deliver tension, gore and straight-up scares alongside the clever references. On this aspect, Scream delivers – big time.

Screen Daily
For all its cheeky self-reflexivity, this Scream actually has a lot on its mind, even if the series’ ideas and kills used to cut much deeper.
