Johnny Depp is a writer accused of plagiarism by an obsessed stranger (John Turturro) in this psychological thriller adapted from the short story Secret Window, Secret Garden by Stephen King.

Author Mort Rainey (Depp) suffers a breakdown after discovering his wife is having an affair. To avoid signing the divorce papers he retreats to a secluded cabin in a rural town. Depressed and suffering from writer's block, he is confronted one day by a local farmer (Turturro) who accuses him of plagiarising a story he wrote. Mort dismisses it until unsettling things begin to happen to him and those around him.
