The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
(Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo)(1966)
The finale of Sergio Leone's Three Dollars spaghetti-western trilogy (after A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More). Clint Eastwood returns as the 'Man With No Name', this time teaming with two gunslingers (Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef) to pursue a cache of $200,000 - and letting no one, not even warring factions in a civil war, stand in their way. Sun-drenched panoramas and bold, hard close-ups capture the beauty and cruelty of the barren landscape and the hardened characters who stride unwaveringly through it.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Quentin Tarantino, perhaps Leone's biggest fan, has labelled this film, "the best directed film of all time". The film paints a gory canvas of... More gunfights, hangings, American Civil War battles and prison camps resulting in quite possibly the greatest showdown in cinematic history.
With unforgettable performances by Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and arguably the most underrated of them all, Eli Wallach, this movie is simply one for the ages. The sweeping cinematography punctuated by the glorious soundtrack by key Leone collaborator Ennio Morricone, this film is undoubtedly one of the greatest movies ever made.Hide
