The Marine

The Marine

The Marine
WWE wrestler John Cena is now also an action star everybody. Everybody come quick, it’s John Cena. He plays John Triton, a US Mariiiiiiiine in this no nonsense action film.

John is stationed in Iraq when he disobeys commands to wait for back up, and single handedly exterminates a pesky Al Qaeda camp and frees some captured Marines. The heroics mean nothing to those in charge though, 'cos that son-of-a-bitch didn’t follow orders. He’s out, and shipped back to the States. Back home, his wife (Carlson) is abducted by jewel thieves. But they didn’t count on her hubby being gung-ho John Cena, who goes on a one man mission to get his wife back.

Anything bad you might hear about "The Marine" has little to do with the movie -- it's a shortcoming on the part of us critics. If everyone who sees it would just drink a six-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon beforehand, the low-budget action film would get better reviews than "My Dinner With Andre." "The Marine" is a throwback to all those guilty pleasure action movies...

The film's saving grace are its fast pacing and generous doses of humor, the latter of which is mostly provided by Robert Patrick's sly delivery of the many wisecracks doled out by his villainous character...
