Review: The X-Files: I Want to Believe
Average film with a franchise flavourNot being an X files acolyte, I was open to being surprised by the film, but sadly i wasn't. What i got was an average serial-killer crime thriller (like Se7en, along came a spider, or any hannibal lecter outing) but with less zing, and the X files cast. It was okay, but only just. Carter's direction seems mired in TV dramatics, and by the time the third character was introduced with mysterious partial views and obscured shots i was hoping it was because they were horribly disfigured, not just because he was trying to dredge up suspense or mystery. On reflection, maybe when someone said 'Stay until the end of the credits' they meant the opening ones. I could understand that.
