The film is worth seeing for Waters, giving a spirited portrayal of a loving father set in his ways... and Breeds as his lively, talented, worldly wise daughter.
Full reviewAustralian romantic comedy set to the backdrop of a Western Australia folk festival, written and directed by comedian Ben Elton (Maybe Baby).
When Keevey (Rebecca Breeds) meets Roland (Robert Sheehan) at a rural folk festival, sparks begin to fly. Their blossoming romance forms the backdrop to a series of interweaving festival stories as we see how the characters change from one summer to the next. Among them is Henry (Michael Caton) a grieving grandfather who runs the local Morris Dancing troupe, Eamon (John Waters), Keevey’s father and founder of her Irish folk band, The Warrikins; and Jack (Kelton Pell), a Noongar didgeridoo player. Keeping them all in line is Queenie (Magda Szubanski), the community radio announcer, who sees the same old confrontations year after year and thinks it’s high time we found ways to embrace our differences and all learn to get along.

Full reviewIt's a relentlessly well-meaning film and when it's not proselytising, it's working very hard to manufacture enough laughs to make the whole mix palatable. However, the effort shows.
Full reviewElton knows how to locate the laughs in his material - and he's a shameless crowdpleaser - but his emotional reach only goes skin deep.
Full review[Ben Elton's] warm, well-intentioned feature ultimately proves broad and blunt.
Full reviewBen Elton affectionately skewers the Wide Brown Land in Three Summers, which delivers some wicked one-liners despite a heavy-handed message.
Full reviewA bad movie like this just provides a convenient argument to stay away from local fare until further notice.
