How to watch Only Murders in the Building season 5 in New Zealand

There’s a fresh corpse in the foyer as Only Murders in the Building returns.

TV’s favourite cosy mystery series returns for another season, as fallen actor Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), histrionic Broadway director Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and artist Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) puzzle out yet another deadly dilemma.

How to watch Only Murders in the Building season 5 in New Zealand

Only Murders in the Building season 5 is streaming in New Zealand exclusively on Disney+ from September 5, 2025, with a triple-episode debut and the remaining seven episodes dropping weekly.

What is Only Murders in the Building season 5 about?

At the end of the last season, our trio of ‘tecs were horrified to discover the body of longtime Arconia doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca) in the building’s courtyard fountain. Obviously nobody dies of natural causes in this thing, and so we’re off and running from the jump.

In addition to Martin, Short, and Gomez, who have well and truly found a comfortable groove with this material, Meryl Streep is returning as Loretta Durkin, now married to Short’s Oliver—which is straight-up adorable given the pair are dating in real life. Also returning are Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard, Jackie Hoffman as Uma, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Williams.

And on the guest star side of things, reports indicate we can look forward to Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Keegan-Michael Key, Logan Lerman, Beanie Feldstein, Jermaine Fowler, and Tea Leoni showing up this season.

Why we’re excited about Only Murders in the Building season 5

Brisk, funny, and not afraid to be silly when the occasion demands, Only Murders in the Building is like the Frasier of the 2020s—which is a bit rough on the actual 21st century Frasier, but what can you do? Watching the series feels exactly like reading a collection of cartoons from The New Yorker while sipping a hot chocolate with a shot of whiskey, which we could all use a little more of.
