Someday Stories to fund films by emerging young NZ filmmakers

Approaching their fourth series, Someday Stories are looking to fund six short films by emerging young filmmakers (aged 18-29) from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Each successful team will have a production budget of up to $10,000 and a mentor from the New Zealand film industry. Deadline for submissions is November 25 and are open now. Check out the event on Facebook or head straight to the official website for more on submitting a proposal.

The films in Someday Stories revolve around the theme of sustainability. This typically covers environment, society, culture, health, human rights and peace. For 2020, Someday Stories will also be specifically looking to commission at least one film that conveys te ao Māori and has at least 50% te reo Māori content.

Films from previous series have gained international recognition. 2D Love from series three was selected for DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary film festival. You can check out all the films from Series Three here.
