France, 1914. The destinies of four women intersect : Marguerite, a mysterious Parisian prostitute, Caroline, propelled to the head of the family factory, Agnes, Mother Superior of a requisitioned convent and Suzanne, a feminist nurse.

Comedy about the French-born son of Algerian immigrants who is sent to his family's ancestral village, despite having no interest in his roots nor speaking Arabic, to try and save his father's house which is set for demolition by the authorities.
