Tanea Heke (Waru), Rachel House (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) and Briar Grace-Smith (The Strength of Water) lead this time-transcending Māori drama based on Patricia Grace's novel about three cousins, separated by circumstance, and their long journey to find each other.

Eight Māori female directors contribute a sequence to this feature which unfolds around the tangi of a boy who died at the hands of his caregiver.
