There She Goes: Seasons 1-3 (December 6)
English comedian Shaun Pye based this family dramedy on his own experiences raising a daughter born with a chromosomal disorder—it’s likely to strike a chord for disabled viewers, perhaps even more so for those who love them. David Tennant and Jessica Hynes (in her BAFTA-winning role) star as the parents of Rosie, a nonverbal kiddo they’re still learning to understand. Each episode covers seemingly mundane family tasks—going to the pool, birthdays, meeting grandpa—through the at-times uncomfortable lens of conversations around parenting, disability, and coming-of-age.
Bookie: Season 1 (December 22)
From sitcom juggernaut Chuck Lorre comes this latest look at LA mishaps of love, money and terrible luck. Stand-up Sebastian Maniscalco stars as a veteran bookie who may be losing his edge due to sports betting becoming legalised. Apparently Lorre’s old mate Charlie Sheen is booked in for a few cameo appearances, so don’t expect anything too cutting edge. Hopefully just some dependable laughs and characters worth following.

Memoria (December 2)
Tilda Swinton tries to get to the bottom of an irritating banging sound. Of course, there’s much more going on under the surface of director Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s ambiguous tone piece—it’s hard to say whether the echoing mystery noise is more chilling than the vast silences it leaves Swinton to bask in. Set and shot in Colombia, this is a film to experience rather than to understand or (to put it ungenerously) to enjoy. You might end up like our gal Tilda, bewitched by a question you’ll never learn the answer to.
Decision to Leave (December 3)
Korean thriller maestro Park Chan-wook rarely misses, and now he can add ‘mastery of twisty, beguiling detective noir genre’ to his impressive resume. The murder mystery follows a lonely-hearted sleuth and the widow of a fallen climber, as they arrive at a strange sense of solace and belonging in conversation with one another. Chan-wook’s camera turns rote interrogation scenes into beguiling, complex halls of mirrors, and the ending is a rugpull of the most poignant magnitude.
The Black Demon (December 26)
December’s the first month of summer, and if you need a solid reason to avoid the beach once the sun’s out, this shark horror movie might do the trick. Josh Lucas stars as a family man trying to keep his vacation afloat when a gigantic megalodon shark gets territorial. This year’s other big (and we mean big) shark movie was basically a flop, so we hope this streaming option takes a better bite at the same material. An unlikely Boxing Day gift to unwrap.
